Easy Christmas Shortbread
Buttery Christmas shortbread with a simple 3:2:1-style ingredient ratio, ideal for stars, trees and slightly wonky homemade gifts.
Ingredients
- 300 g plain flour
- 200 g unsalted butter, softened
- 100 g caster sugar
- Pinch of salt
Method
- Cream butter and sugar without whipping in too much air.
- Mix in flour and salt until a soft dough forms.
- Chill for 20–30 minutes, roll, cut and place on a lined tray.
- Bake at 160°C fan-forced until the edges are only just turning golden, roughly 12–18 minutes depending on thickness.
Cool completely before decorating. Half the charm is that homemade shortbread is never geometrically perfect.
